Wireless Keyboard wont connect via Bluetooth

How do I get my wireless keyboard connect to my Mac desktop? It won’t connect wirelessly or wired. And there’s no switch user option. All I have is the password to get in to my Mac (which I can’t do because can’t type) a WiFi symbol and a source input drop down. It will allow sleep, shutdown or restart but nothing else!!

Any advice on what to do I’m will be much appreciated

• Which model Mac?
• What version of OS X/macOS?
• What brand/mode is the keyboard? Apple?
• Was it previously connected and working?
• Do you have another USB keyboard?
