What is "Other" in System Storage?

Hello,

I'm trying to free up as much storage space as possible on my MacBook Pro, and I can't figure out what these 72.93 gb account for (see bottom left of attached image). I've searched all of my folders in Finder (even the hidden ones) and can't find anything taking up even close to that much space. Does anyone know how to access whatever is in this "Other" category?

Basically it is any type of file that Mac OS does not allocate to the listed specified storage types.
