Very simple chat app needed

Hi, I'm looking for a simple group chat app for half a dozen friends online at the same time. Easy to set up, no bells and whistles. We just want a window on our Macs so we can text on screen while using other software. No phones involved. Video add-on might be useful later, but mainly we want something dead simple. I had been using Slack for Desktop, available at the App Store. I used it to connect and communicate with a group of software beta testers and worked very well for our needs. I didn’t set it up myself, the developer did, but looking through the app interface, it looks quite easy to set up.

I use telegram to communicate with my family. Works great.
