Hi all,

I did a automatic system software upgrade on my M1 imac from Sequoia 15.3.1 to 15.4 and now i can no longer log into utube. or see or download the videos.

i use a program called Downie 4 to download videos and watch thme on my TV with headphones, as I am loosing my hearing (have been stone deaf on 4 occasions in the last 10 years) and told I will eventualy go deaf.

i let the imac do a System software update from a version of Sequoia 15.3.? to 15.4.. and no i cant even see youtube videos on my iMac, and cant login to Google uTube and end up in a login password hel loop... i am no deleting all my google passwords andam ready to put my boot though this dam computer.. An the next apple teck i see..... my iTube studio program show videos, but no longer downlaods and they seem to have disowned the program.. but i cant seem to get to sign in.. Google automaticaly adds passwords that dont work.

i have deleted all the google passwords i can find.. clearly there is something i have missed as it come up with accounts i have never owned and ignores passwords i know off by heart and written down.

now you know whey i hate apples auto system updates with a vengance.. and this is total madness...

any clues how to end this, apart from smashing this computer, would be appreciated...

regards, Sandy

When did you do the system update? About a week ago, Apple released the latest Sequoia update to 15.5 (24F74). I suggest you try the latest version because I did notice a number of wonky behavior in 15.4 that the latest version seemed to fix. As always, I recommend having up-to-date Time Machine plus other 3rd-party backups (Carbon Copy Cloner being my choice) before doing a system update.

Did you perform the update from Recovery? I have more confidence in doing it from Terminal while booted in Safe Mode. In fact, I just did a reinstall of 15.5 yesterday from have noticed some odd behaviors and the reinstall seems to have ironed out the problems. Your problems with logging into Google/YouTube sounds like permissions problems so I would still try updating to macOS 15.5 (24F74). Good luck!

Hi,

just a note that I am back up and running, and Charlie Munroe's 'Downie 4' program was perfect. it was all a paswords permissions problem in Google.. dam them...

and how i got out of it is hilarious… I deleted all the google accounts i could find. but the old program “iTube Studio” now NOT downloading, would still show but no download movies… (I could not even see them on my Safari browser.)

i clicked in the google account name showing in itube studio, and it came up with a google account i had set up in 2010… and i recovered that… the computer i was suing then was destroyed in the 2011 floods, (and old 27” G5 imac) and i managed to recover the Safari passwords and favourite file of that had disk just after the flood, to my new then 27” Intel iMac, and that was destroyed an week after the 2022 floods.. and i saved both those files of that hard disk… so something in there still carried a link to that old account… which i managed to recover and re activate it…

long story short. I am now back in business.

I owe Charlie Munro and his fantastic support on his Downie4 youtube downloader program a beer. he would often get back to me (here is Ipswich, Australia) with in minutes with a new method to try. and Toni Aguila for his help. (this is why this group is fantastic, for old duffers like me, (and getting senile, and more and more flustered with the more and more complicated operating systems. well I am 73 and half) and i also owe Toni a beer...

best wishes to all. Sandy
