Hi. New to Mac except the iPhone.
I purchased a used 13 inch MacBook Pro Mid 2010 that seemed to be working correctly. I removed her video and picture files and then formatted the correct harddrive as directed. The system now boots into OS X Utilities screen for me to reinstall the OS.
When I click reinstall the OS X Yosemite I walk thru the validation process and it says that an error occurred while preparing this installation Try running this application again.
Any thought? Thank you in advance for this help.

Hello and welcome.

-Does it have any third-party RAM installed?
-How are you attempting the reinstall - from the Recovery Partition?

I've run into this when the installer was incomplete or corrupted. How old is the hard drive in the machine? If it is as old as the machine it could have developed bad sectors such that the restore partition is bad.

Is the version of OS-X you are trying to install older than what was last installed on the machine?
