It would be good if you let us know 1) what exact Mac model you have, and 2) what OS you are running under.

From what I understand, the issue with the date/time can be either a issue with the PRAM, or the small battery on your Mac's logic board needs to be replaced. So, the first thing you should try is to "Zap the PRAM" (ie, reset it), by following these instructions:

https://support.apple.com/kb/PH14222?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US

This link talks about battery issues:

http://www.everythingmacintosh.com/tech-notes/my-date-time-are-wrong/

If you let us know your exact model, and if you have the right tools, you can replace the battery yourself.

OK, just follow those instructions about zapping the PRAM. But, still need more definitive information as to the exact Mac Book pro model you have. The reason for this is that there is a site that has excellent instructions about doing various hardware-related tasks/upgrades for Macs, but one needs the exact model to know which guide to use.0

If you turn over your Mac Book Pro, you'll see, at the top and "centered", printed information about your Mac. In fact, it will most likely say:

"Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China. Model xxxxx".

For example, for my 2013 MacBook Air, it says:

"Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China. Model A1466"

It's that Model Number that I would need to help you further. That model number is , typically, a letter followed by 4 numbers.

Model a1278

Well,I thought that would be enough, but believe it or not, there is more than one 13" MacBook Pro with that "model" designation. So, need for you to do the following:

1. Go to the "About This Mac ...".

2. Click "System Report".

3. On the next page, you'll see an entry entitled "Model Identifier:" For example, on my Mac Mini (that I am entering this on), it says "Model Identifier: Macmini6,2".

I need that "Macmini6.2" designation. Yours will say "MacBookProx.x". For example, the one that came out on June 9, 2009 will say "MacBookPro5,5".

By the way, here is what I am talking about regarding this:

OK. First, did you use the instructions (via the link I provided) to reset the PRAM? Did it resolve your issue? If not, then it looks like there is no PRAM battery on the logic board (I guess some Mac laptops (maybe quite a few).

Is your battery working fine? That is, is it holding its charge? If not, maybe you need to replace the battery itself. This link tells you how to do that:

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Unibody+Mid+2009+Battery+Replacement/1332

Sorry I cannot be of more help.
