Stuff on Desktop moves around

So I work on a file and put it in a folder. I move that folder to a convenient corner of my Desktop. I work on another file and put it in another folder on my Desktop. Boom! The first folder is now sitting in another place on my Desktop, usually near the second folder. WHY? How can I tell the OS to leave my Desktop the way I had it? DO NOT MOVE THINGS AROUND!

Right click on desktop and select Show View Options then select none in the sort by box

Already selected that way. Something else wants to move things around.
