I have Mac OSX.7.5
This morning, very security conscious all of a sudden, I tinkered to enter a password onto this Mac. Never needed one before, I live alone, only me uses it. Now, I only have to sneeze and the damned screen wants a password again. Driving me nuts.
Cannot find restore point though I am sure over the years there has been one somewhere. Have external back-up but don't recognise anything on it in this regard. Am in my 70s and not always very bright, help needed please in simple words.

Hello,

-Which model Mac - iMac, MacBook, etc.?
-Where did you add the password - System Preferences?
-Have you restarted your Mac?
-OS X doesn't have actual "restore points" like Windows does.
-Do you have an Apple Store near you?

Hello Cory
Macbook early 2008
Yes I've restarted and turned off and on
We have an Apple store in Exeter, about an hour away
Think it was added as you suggest, System prefs
Have followed threads to File Vault, and everything on that page
Have never used PW since I've had it
Have gone to Time Machine to restore but all I get is a page Mac HD saying checking size or some such
I am such a wally!
