Here's a curious little phenomena perhaps someone would like to comment on.

OSX Sierra 10.12.6

1) I used SuperDuper to mirror Drive 1 on to Drive 2.

2) I boot from Drive 2.

3) I try to launch Quicktime 7 Pro on Drive 2, and error comes up saying it can't run on this system. I quit and relaunch QT repeatedly, error continues.

4) Power down, take walk in woods.

5) Get back home, boot from Drive 2 again, and now QT 7 Pro launches without complaint.

I wouldn't bother posting this question, but I use QT 7 Pro a lot, so ideally I'd like to learn what just happened.

Anybody have an idea here?

Thanks.

Hi,

-Which model Mac?
-Where are the drives (Drive 1 and Drive 2) physically? Internal, external, etc.?
-Are the drives used on other Macs, or just this one?

Hi Cory,

Hi Cory,

iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011)

Both drives external, connected via Firewire

Both drives are backup drives for this Mac only.

I need to boot from the external drives again to rerun the test. Will report if that yields new info.

So far the failure to launch QT 7 Pro only happened once, and if it stays that way then I guess it's just one of those little mysteries.
