SOLVED Strange effects, HP printers

In the last few days I kept getting a warning on my MBP 2016 ( Catalina v 10.15.7 ) that the HP printer was about to damage my computer if I continued with printing a job. Occurred with both my printers ( HPDeskJet D2560 & HP Photosmart C4280).

Didn't happen with my 2011 i-Mac (High Sierra 10.13.6).

Made a fresh download of the printer software (generic - from the HP website). Now all works fine.

The Mac Observer (TMO) posted a rambling interview [HP Print Drivers Slash Malware] yesterday from John Martellaro which seemed to indicate that Apple had withdrawn the HP app's permission. I await a proper report on TMO.

Yes, there have been all kinds of discussion about this and similar issues with HP drivers. Seems to affect folks that are running macOS 10.15.7 Catalina and later.
