Sound Problem!!

Hello everyone!

Ok, a moderator needs help!!! AHHHHHH

This is not a really serious matter, but it is annoying. My system sounds are no longer audible. If I turn off my computer or restart it, they work fine. But after a while, they just stop working. IE, when I empty the trash no sound. When I click Get Mail in Mail, there is not dong sound when I get new messages. I have tried the usual repair permissions, but with no luck. Anyone have an idea on what's wrong and how to correct this? Thanks

Are you using the internal speakers or an external set?

You could try a couple of things:

1. Open up a song in GarageBand then quit it.
2. Open Utilities > AUdio MIDI Setup and change the settings for the speakers you are using to 44.100.0 Hz 16-bit.

I am using external speakers through Optical Out. But it is shorted out now. Thanks Cory!
