[SOLVED] Screen goes black every time I use spotlight

about 4 out of 5 times I click the magnifying glass in the top corner to use the spotlight feature, my screen goes black for a few seconds then returns after a mouse wave.

...why? Is it fixable?

Hello,
It sounds like you're activating Exposé by placing your mouse's cursor in the upper right corner of your screen. Go to System Preferences, click the Exposé & Spaces icon; if Exposé is not selected click the Exposé button. Under the heading "Active Screen Corners" you'll notice four fields with triangles located at the end of the fields, in blue buttons. Click on the blue button that's located at the top, right side, then click on the - symbol.
