I really need some help. My IMac stoped working last night and i used some command in single user mode. I did the following:

  • Reboot your Mac
  • Immediately hold download the Command(Apple) + S key to boot into Single User Mode
  • When you see the text prompt, type in the following terminal commands to create a brand new Administrator account (hitting return after each line):
mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now

Now my imac shuts down every time i re-boot it. i can't even type in a command. Apple store in not an option for me as i am now living in the Philippines. can anyone help. also i have a cd stuck in the drive.

Hello and welcome.

To remove the disc, try booting the machine and holding down the mouse button until the disc ejects. Or, Option-boot machine and when startup discs show on the screen, hit the eject key.

-As for the user/shut down issue, can you still boot into single-user mode?
-Have you tried reinstalling the OS (maybe not because of the stuck disc)?
-At what point does it shut down?
