SD not recognizable/ s.m.a.r.t not supported

Hey,
I inserted an SD card to my macbook pro 2015 10.11.6 and getting this message: The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.
I clicked initialized and tried running utility disk first aid and it say operation successful but I still can't see it in finder.
Under S.M.A.R.T status is say not supported.
I also checked the Finder preferences and did a restart and it didn't work.
I used the card on an Fiio mp3 player before and I formatted it through the player. It also was perfectly readable on my computer through the player.
The card is new and high quality so no problem there.. I have not used the SD slot before. I also tried using bitlocker, not sure what it does exetly...
Any suggestions?

Solved: I used the instructions here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7387817 and it worked immediately after.
