I'm running OS 10.13.6 and Safari 13.1.2.

More and more websites are not interfacing with Safari. They will with Firefox but, often, the presentation is grotty (e.g. eBay).

It seems I cannot update any further. The processor is iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011).

What can I do please?

Hello and welcome.

You are seeing the Safari issues, because the security certificates in High Sierra are starting to expire and are not compatible with current standards.

Unfortunately, macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra is the latest version of macOS supported by your iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011). You won't be able to upgrade Safari past your version without an newer version of macOS.

You will either need to live with it, use another browser like Chrome, or purchase a newer Mac that supports a more recent version of macOS.

Sorry!
