Restoring a Damaged iTunes Library

Damaged by an external hard drive disconnect that didn't even make sense

Now I try to do the rename trick & it's not working. I'm so confused.

I don't think I've even attempted to use Time Machine since, like, 2014. 8^/

Did you try the following steps previously?:

If you don‘t see your entire library after you update iTunes on your Mac or PC > Restore your iTunes library
