Hi,
I upgraded my iPhoto library from 08 to 09 after a restore. When I opened iPhoto, something went wrong when it began recognicing faces while also downloading my MobileMe galleries. I suspect something about the MobileMe sync failed and iPhoto crashed on me.
When I opened it again, it pretended to be done with facial recognition but it could barely recognize a face and I kept having to try to manually choose faces.
I decided to reset its face recognition feature so it would try again (this involves teaching all faces anew! Be careful).

- Quit iPhoto
- Go to your Pictures folder and locate iPhoto Library.
- Ctrl+Click or Right click it and choose to reveal package contents.
- Trash faces.db and faces_blob.db
- Open iPhoto and wait
