Reinstalling leopard?

i have had a few problems on leopard so if i just place the leopard cd in and install it again what will happpend, will it remove all my data or just overwrite the update and all my data will still be there?

You are given several choices during system installation. You can erase everything, if you want to, or you can archive and install or simply upgrade. Choose the method that best suits you. For precaution, go ahead and make a back of your personal files. In case you erase them, you'll have the back-up.
