Region Code Problems

Hello, i've got a problem with my region code settings for playing dvds. It should be in Region code 4 (australia) but i changed it over to region code 1 to view an american dvd. Now when i put a region 4 code disc in it says "The Dvd-Video disc region code does not match the drive region code. You can not change the region code for your drive." I am aware that there is a limit to the number of times you can change the region code but i had a few more changes left. This is, as you all would know, extremely frustrating! I have a Mac OS X 10.4.6. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If I remember correctly, the number of times that you're allowed to change the region code is five and I think it stores this information on a chip in the drive. First, I would try to play a few more region 4 discs that you are sure play ONLY in region 4. If this doesn't work, I'd bring the drive to a specialist and see if he could reset the chip somehow. If not, purchase a new drive or use VLC Player to view your DVD's. I believe it supports different regions.
