Re-Installing Mac OS X

I have a Mid-2007 Macbook, that was recently passed down to me. I want to do a clean reinstall, but only have the discs for Mac OS X 10.5. I do not have the discs for 10.6. Is there any way for me to do a clean reinstall and update to 10.6 without the installation disc?
