Photos on imac

Hello and welcome.
First, a few questions:
-Which version of OS X/macOS?
-What are the sources of the photos?
-I assume you mean the Photos app? If so, which version?
It should be as simple as having the Photos app open, and dragging the photos from your Desktop and Pictures folder into the Photos window. Or, you can use the Import... command in the File menu. Here is a nice article that may help:
