Hi there. I have a powerbook G4 running os x 10.4ish. I think I may have dragged my hard drive icon into the trash yesterday because my computer froze up when I was trying to delete files, it froze, so I restarted. When I did, it would not boot. I got to the blue screen and this is where it sat indefinitely. I have tried the following to correct my problem :

1. Restart in safe mode- I got a kernel panic message along these lines
Panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002E0368): Unable to find driver for this platform: “PowerBook6, 5”.

2. After this I put in the install disk. I held down C to boot to the disk, but once I attempted to install the disk, there was no target volume for me to choose (you know the part during installation where it tells you to choose where to install to).

3. I attempted Disk Utility- first aid where I verified and repaired my hard drive (which showed up on the list but was grayed out). However, I found that once I restarted, it told me the volume needed repair again. So, any time I restarted it was like I undid the repair.

4. I reset the PRAM and NVRAM to no avail.

5. I cannot boot in single user mode.

6. Now every time I start I get the "You Must Restart Your Computer" screen (with the picture of the power button in the background).

I feel like I have exhausted every online resource thus far, and I feel like there must be a somewhat easy fix for when you put your hard drive in the trash and restart. Can anyone help me?

Addendum : I also tried to repair disk permissions on my starup disk, which failed yielding an error menssage that reads "no valid packages"
