Sorry to be asking this but I really don’t know a lot about computers.
I have an old Macbook(the white one, circa 2006-2008(?)) from which I need to get some files(not stored in iCloud) and it won’t turn on. When I try to charge it, the green light on the charger is on. So I guess it’s working...Do you think changing the battery would work? I haven’t turned on in about 3 years so I’m guessing it’s the battery?

Thank you

Hello and welcome.

You can actually run those older MacBooks without the battery installed. There will be a slight balance issue due to the lack of weight, and the processor will slow down a bit, but it will run only connected to AC.

See if that works. If not, then there may be a more involved hardware issue.
