New OSX update froze me Macbookpro

Hello, newby here but long time Mac user. I just updated my macmini last night and then tried to do the same for my MBPro with the new OSX update supposedly to get ready for Lion. Worked fine on my mini but on my mbp it said update failed ...3x's and that I needed to restart. After the 3rd restart it no longer starts up at all. I have forced quit several x's now and it begins then ends up empty screen except for a faint apple and a spinning grey wheel. The only difference in the updates was that the mini was hardwired to the airport and the mbp was wifi with recently changed frequency. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this.
