New iMac!!

I'm finally getting a new iMac. Can someone tell me exactly what I need and how to transfer all the files from my Dalmatian iMac to my new one? The new one won't arrive until next week, I just want to be prepared.

Hi, if you just want to transfer stuff from one iMac to another, then the best way IMHO is to use Firewire Target Disc Mode.

Let us know if you need any further help with anything ... and reading things a few times is pretty important just so you don't miss any important steps.

I haven't ever done a Target Disc Mode transfer before but I *think* it isn't too difficult a job, depending of course, on your past experience of involvement with your Mac.

Okay. I checked around, and decided to go with the firewire cable method of transfer. It couldn't have gone smoother.
