Hi All,

Again, thanks for all the previous help.

Want to install W10 on my new iMac.
Confused over exactly how to go about it.
That "old-age" thing, I guess.

Anyway:

I know boot camp is already on the iMac.
I also have a copy, not installed yet, of Parallels that the rep. at the Apple Store said I would really like.

What are the steps I should follow to install W10 ?
e.g.

do I use Boot Camp or Parallels, or both ?

Install before doing any W10 install ?

Will whichever program(s) I use, will they take me directly to a download site for "W10 for the Apple" ?

If not, where do I go to get it ? Will they ask for a credit card ? Is this a specific vers. for Macs ?

Step by step would be most appreciated.
Trying to learn, but a lot of the nuances escape me now.

Thanks,
Bob

Do you have an install DVD for windows 10?
if you do and you are not going to use your windows box, you can use that with parallels. If you wish to keep your currently installed windows you will need to purchase a new copy.
When I used a trial of parallels I used an app from their website on my windows machine to make a copy of my windows install then I installed parallels on my iMac and the used the image that windows had created to move it onto the iMac.

I find parallels to be much easier to use than boot camp.

Hi,

No, I dont have a W10 dusk.

To use W10 with Parallels, do I have to
download diectly to the iMac from
somewhere ?

Where ?

And, would I then need boot camp
at all ?

Thanks,
Bob

you don't need boot camp with parallels.
If you go to the parallels website you can download an app onto your windows machine to create a file that will then put windows onto your mac via parallels.
