Music File Import for Catalina

When I have attempted to import music files from a hard drive that contains them, I've found for one artist that I have multiple albums for, that I cannot get music to import MP3 files in the correct album folder that there in. Any ideas as to why and how to correct this?

Hello,

I assume you mean the Music app in Catalina?

Normally, this issue has to do with the metadata in the files. If the artist name/album title are slightly different, grouping and sort options are different, Album is a compilation of songs by various artists is checked, etc.

Try comparing those in Get Info for the songs that aren't sorting properly.

Thanks. I thought the problem might be with the music files. i was able to use the GET option to modify some of the files. I will eventually work on all of the files.
