I have a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro 15" i7 with 16GB RAM 1TB SATA HDD
I used Open Core Legacy Patcher to install Sonoma.
Worked well but a little slow so decided to upgrade to SSD

Used Disk Utility but the resultant WD SSD would not boot.

Also tried to use Carbon Copy Cloner to image the original disk to the SSD.
Same result.

Tried to reinstall Mac OS to the SSD as a clean install of Mountain Lion but Safari will not work properly and I cannot update Chrome as it is not supporting the installed version of Mac OS so cannot run Open Core Legacy Patcher.

Keep going around in circles.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Still fairly new with Macs

When you use Carbon Copy Cloner to make the 1st clone to the SSD, you need to right click on the destination (SSD) and select Legacy Bootable Copy. Then allow it to erase the drive.

This will copy all of your files as well as create the proper partitions needed for the system.
