Macbook to TV

Hi, I have a Macbook OSX 10.4.11 and I want to connect this to my Sony Bravia HDTV. I bought a Mini DVI-HDMI cable and an HDMI to HDMI cable.
This successfully gave me the picture. I've tried connecting my headphones outlet to the computer without any success at all. Can anyone out there help? Thanks Tom
