After a HDrive repair, when I try to boot with it it asks for a password at some root level just to mount. Well I have none such. What is the universal Mac PW to mount a volumn?

Hello and welcome.

Sounds like there may be a firmware or FileVault password set.

-Which exact model Mac?
-Which version of OS X/macOS?
-What kind of HDrive repair?
-Can you upload a photo of the password prompt?

It's a MacBook Pro, model A1332, running 10.7, HD was reformatted and is now stuck during boot-up with PW demand. No picture yet. Need to find camera, no screen capture available during boot. Thanks, JK
