macbook pro software help!

hi , i recently picked up a macbook pro second hand but I can't install any new software as I don't know the admin password and username.

I am told I can just buy the 10.4 tiger software and it will work , is this true?

Also I notice that the new osx is out on friday , if i buy that instead will I be able to reset the password and username with that??

If you have any os x disk you can reset passwords on any user. I believe it will list the users as well.

When you boot up the computer hold the c key down with the os cd in

it will ask you what language

after that on the top bar there should be a utilities under that there should be reset password..

see if that helps

yeah Panther, and Tiger both have the reset on the install disk. I believe it does not matter which OS you have installed.

Since it is not out yet I would not be able to say but I would be very surprised if it does not. I would wait for leopard but thats me
