Mac Wont accept Discs

Hi there

New to the forums so apologies if any required information is missing.

I have a Mac G4 flatscreen using Panther OSX. My Mac has stopped accepting discs - there is no disc stuck in it, as the disc can be put in almost entirely, but it's as if the mechanism that takes in and ejects the disc has broken - it just doesnt take it in.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Is your drive recognized by the System Profiler?

This may seem like an odd question, but your G4 isn't sleeping as you pop a disc in? This will result in the disc popping straight back out ....
