Lost memory

I have a problem with the computer (white macbook, OS Lion).

Disc info shows 76 gb is free,

but disc utility shows only 28 gb. Where are hidden

another 50 GB I do not know. Checking sizes of all the files I found nothing. I wanted to download a file of 26 GB - but was told that there is not enough disk space (((

Can anybody advise something?
