Locked HD

So, whenever I try to drag a document of something that I downloaded to my desktop or something I saved there myself, I try to drag in onto the HD, but it gives me no smoking kind of symbol and makes me authenticate everything. I tried to change this in preferences but I cant find where. Can someone help me?

Do you have full Administrative Privileges for your user account? I could suggest you try Disc Utilities and repair Permissions and your Hard Disc.

MacintoshHD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Disc Utility

Another suggestion is to try Keychain First Aid. Here is the method if you have Mac OS Tiger:

Open Keychain Access located in Applications/Utilities, then choose Keychain Access > Keychain First Aid.
Enter your user name and password.
Select, Verify and click Start. Any problems found will be displayed.
If there are problems, select Repair and then click Start.
