iTunes Storage Confusion

Hi All

Please note I'm a newbie with Macs!

I have a main SSD Hard Drive and a 2nd Internal 1tb hard drive. I imported my music directly from the secondary hard drive and ticked the option not to store the music on my main drive, however, when looking at my storage summary, it seems iTunes are taking up a ton of space!

I'm also running bootcamp and we all know how quickly we can run out of space!

Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome.

-Which version of iTunes - 12.6.0.100?
-Did you uncheck both Keep iTunes Media folder organized and Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library before you imported the songs?
-Are the songs still on the secondary hard drive - I assume it's the "Extras" drive?
-Have you looked in Music > iTunes > iTunes Media folders to see if there is actually content there?
-How many songs are we talking about?
-Did you import movies/videos as well?
-Do you have a lot of iOS Apps and other files in your iTunes Library?

Hi Cory
I'm using version 12.6.0.100 (iTunes)
I've unchecked both options you mentioned.
I added the music after the options were checked.
The songs are still on the secondary drive.
I am not sure how many songs right now but it's about 129GB's worth.
I have not imported videos except a few SD ones that I purchased via the iStore (lol) but only 5 or 6 and a few songs.
I only have a few apps (9 or 10) via iTunes but like I said I'm a new 'switcher' so I'm not sure where to look for those.

The space it takes up is around 98GB on my main drive.
