When I open a new document and try to type when I hit enter/return there is a huge gap between the first and second lines (and subsequent) lines. As I keep on typing the lines move closer together. What has happened and how do I correct this??? TIA

Hello and welcome.

It sounds like you accidentally modified the default template to change the line spacing or add spacing after a paragraph.

-Which version of OS X?
-Which version of Microsoft Office/Word?

Unfortunately, there isn't a Microsoft Office 2010 for Mac, but there is for PCs running Windows. There are 2008 and 2011 versions for Mac.

Is this question for one of the Mac versions, or for a Windows version?

To reset the Normal template back to the default:

-Quit Word if it is open
-In the Finder menu bar, click Go and select Go To Folder...
-Paste the following text in and then click Go:

~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates

-Move the file called Normal.dotm to the Trash
-Relaunch Word and it will create a new Normal template and things should be back to normal.

Let us know if that doesn't work,
