is it possible to save a still image from dvd playback?

I have used the Help facility on my mac but it all seems gobble-dee-gook to me!
Either that or it isnt showing results for exactly what I require.

I just want to know if its possible to pause dvd playback from dvd-rom and save the still image as a picture? If this is possible I will hugely appreciate someone telling me how to do so!!!!
