Hi everybody - I am new to forum and hope someone can help. I am proficient in PC maintenance but not Macs.

My machine suddenly shut down as I was using it together with slight acrid smell.

I have dismantled and removed Power Supply modules. I have connected the PSU on it's own and it gets warm very quickly.

Can anyone give an opinion that the PSU has failed ?

I can only find a replacement at £90 + vat on exchange - I am used to circa £12 for PC PSU !! so don't want to buy and then find it's the motherboard.

A shame this forum is not more active - anyway I decided to replace power supply and have just re-assembled it. Eureka - my G4 back in service.

Part ordered on exchange basis from VIS and received within 36 hours which is b. good going this near to Xmas.
