iMac dead

iMac with Tiger died. We cannot even read a disc to reinstall the OS. Our mac is about 5 years old. Comments?

which disk are you trying to boot from ?

Are you holding down the 'c' key ?

We are trying to boot from the CD drive and we have held down the "C" key at the same time.
