I have a 2015 Mac Air running El Capitan but have got a iMac with El Capitan on.
I don't want the Mac Air now, so I done a Migration of files to the iMac, although I have a small amount of stuff on iMac.
I now have two drives when I start up, my original plus the files from my Mac Air and need to click either one to start up.
I would like to keep just the iMac login files as that was my main one then delete the iMac one!! So I only have one drive.

Is this possible as the iMac was original or is there another way? I do appreciate any help & you understand my long winded question.

Many Thanks
Denny

Hello,

-Did you mean two login account names, not drives?
-You don't need any files in the one you want to delete, correct?

Hi Yes that's correct, I just need one account with one removed.

Thank You.

You can delete one of the logins as follows:

1. Login to the user account you want to keep
2. Go to  > System Preferences... > Users & Groups
3. Click the lock icon in the bottom left and enter your password
4. Click once on the account you want to delete in the list
5. Click the minus (-) button just under Login Options
6. Click the radio button to the left of Delete the home folder
7. Click Delete User and follow prompts

This will totally remove that user, the home folder, and all the files associated with it. Proceed only if you are sure you do not need any of the data for that user.

Did you check Erase home folder securely? If so, that is probably why. Or, do you have FileVault 2 enabled?

Everything seemed locked up could not close down, so took a chance and done a forced close down......Re opened and now 2nd user has gone.
Many Thanks for your help.

It probably would have finished on its own after a while...sometimes it can take over an hour, especially if either of the things I mentioned previously were enabled.

Glad it worked though. Let us know if anything additional occurs.
