On my old macbook when playing movies using quick time player, having clicked on the movie file icon, quick time player would start up and then a 'buffering ' type bar would appear and load the movie (pretty quick in roughly 10-15 seconds ish) then i could select a point in a movie and move back and forwards as i wished... iv just got the new macbook and now quick time opens as soon as i click the movie icon and then it buffers as it is playing - it plays fine and does not stall or anything but i can no longer jump forward in the movie (until the buffering bar running behind the playing bar has got past the point that i want to jump to - which take a long time)

my new macbook has OS X 10.6.2

can you help me get quicker buffering please
