How do I connect to a SAMBA server?

I am using a Macbook running 10.5.2 at work. They have just installed a new server and I can't connect to it. when I use "command-K" I can browse to the samba server in the list and sometimes even connect to it, but my specific partition doesn't come up. I don't get the login panel.

I am entirely clueless as to what more I can tell you. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can supply you.
