WTF. Can anyone help me out here? I'm guessing Snow Leopard is the next update? How do I get it? Thanks.

Hello and welcome.

Minor updates - i.e 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 are free. Major update/upgrades - i.e. 10.5.8 to 10.6.x or later are paid.

It depends on the exact model and spec of your MacBook as to your upgrade strategy. To go beyond 10.5.8 would be a paid upgrade for you.
