SOLVED Help me identify the new icon that appeared on my Taskbar

This new icon appeared on my taskbar and it leads to network preference --> Wifi but the wifi icon is right next to it. Can someone please help me identify this new icon? Its the icon between bluetooth and wifi.

That is the icon for a VPN.

Depending on your macOS version will depend where you toggle the icon on and off.

In Monterey or before go to Network settings select VPN on the left, and then on the right uncheck show in menubar.

In newer versions of macOS go to System Settings > Control Center. Scroll to the bottom and you will see the options for VPN.
