help first time mac user !!!

Hi if anyone manages to see this miracle if it works,just got second hand mac of sister trying to do allsorts struggling trying to install something in applications tells me i cant modify them,sister lives miles away cant work out problem over phone how is this possible.also how do i trash an application when the message is its root or something mac osx 10.2.4

Hi there and welcome,

Mac OS X works with User accounts... the Root User is the admin account on the computer.

When your Sister originally set up the Mac she will have used a password...you need that password to 'do' certain things on the Mac, such as install software and sometimes to remove software.

If your Sister can't remember the Password then you will have to boot from the OS Install disks and use the Password reset utility.
