Hi Ric,
I have had my ibook G4 for just over a year, it has always run perfectly (I use it as if it were an enormous ipod).
Recently the 'mac osx has quit unexpectedly' grey box appears and requires a manual restart. The frequency of this has increased so that it is now unusable. It seemed to happen more when safari was running. I have no idea where to start.
Firstly can I reset the thing to factory settings? Or do something like a de-frag? I suspect that the RAM may be under too much strain as it has been getting slower and slower, so I would like to wipe it off and try again (with less dodgy applications) this time, and buy extra RAM from apple.
Where do I begin? I won't be offended if you tell me to take it to a repair centre.
regards
