Hi there,

is it the internal drive you are trying to format ? Or an external drive?

Is it the drive with the Mac OS on it ?

Are you going to use boot camp, if you are then it will partition it for you...

Run the Boot Camp Assistant.

no i am trying to use boot camp but it wont partition it says Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again.
