I accidentally removed (aka "poofed") a couple external hardrives from my finder window. Since then, I have rebooted the computer and hard drives; however, the computer no longer recognizes them, meaning, they continue to not show up in the finder window. Any tips? I am running a Macbook Air Os 10.12.3. Thanks!

I assume you mean that you disconnected the enclosures the hard drives are in from your Mac. correct?

I have a mid 2017 13" MacBook Air (256 gig SSD), and I have "accidentally" disconnected the USB 3.0 cable from one of the USB 3.0 ports on that Mac (also on my Mac Mini), and while I get a message "disk not ejected properly, it was recognized the next time I plugged it in. Was anything being either read from, or written to, any of those drives when you did the removal?

Also, when you plug them back in, does Disk Utility recognize them?
