I have a G4 running 10.4.11 Today I down loaded a security update. After I down loaded the update, I tried opening Disk Utility and Console, but neither of them opened. I rebooted holding the shift key, but never got past the Grey Apple Screen.
I tried just a plain restart after that and ended up at the same place. I then tried Command and S this works.
when I tried fsck or reboot in single user mode it keeps looking for the root user. Does this mean my drive is dead? What do you suggest?
