Graphic design software

Any recommendations on software that would be really easy to use and free? I know several for windows but not many for mac. Any tips very welcome. Thank you!

I have heard that Scribus is pretty good and its open source so free

Oh for some reason I thought it wasnt available for mac, but great! Its says on the main page http://www.scribus.net/canvas/Scribus that "Scribus supports professional publishing features, such as color separations, CMYK and spot colors, ICC color management, and versatile PDF creation." Does that mean creating files for print? Thats what I ultimately need it for, and the printer mentions those CMYK colours (http://print24.com/uk/)

Have you ever considered the GIMP? It isn't quite up there with Photoshop yet, but I hear that GIMP just keeps getting better and better with age.
